Can one person really make a difference?
 

In 1994, our founder, Grace Wilson, answered a call for volunteers at the Boone County Animal Shelter. There, she discovered a heartbreaking reality: thousands of healthy animals were being euthanized each year simply because they had nowhere to go.
 

She knew she couldn't save them all—but she could save one at a time.
 

That decision led to her first foster dog, Chancey, who never found an adopter.   What started with one foster soon grew into many, eventually inspiring the purchase of a farm to help even more animals.
 

As more friends, foster families, adopters, and volunteers joined the mission, one person's decision to help became something much bigger.
 

In 2005, that mission became official with the formation of Wilson Animal Rescue, Inc., doing business as Wags and Whiskers Rescue.
 

Today, our mission has grown beyond rescue and adoption to include education, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), and lifelong sanctuary care for animals who have nowhere else to go. Through it all, our purpose remains the same: making a difference, one animal at a time.
 

We may never save them all, but every life we save matters. One person can make a difference. Together, we change lives—one animal at a time.
